Anfang des 20. Jahrhunderts hatte De Heurne einen eigenen Bahnhof an der Bahnlinie Varsseveld - Dinxperlo. Das Gebäude ist noch als Wohnhaus vorhanden, gegenüber der Cafeteria, wo ebenfalls ein Schienenmonument aufgestellt wurde. Nur eine Baumreihe hinter einem neugebauten Wohngebiet und eine alte Lagerhalle erinnern noch an die Bahnlinie, die 1935 stillgelegt wurde. Bis zum 1. Januar 2005 war De Heurne Teil der Gemeinde Dinxperlo. Das Dorf hat unter anderem eine protestantische Kirche und eine Schule.
