All'inizio del XX secolo De Heurne aveva una propria stazione ferroviaria, sulla linea ferroviaria Varsseveld - Dinxperlo. L'edificio è ancora presente come abitazione, di fronte alla caffetteria, dove è stato collocato anche un monumento ferroviario. Solo una fila di alberi dietro un nuovo quartiere residenziale e un vecchio magazzino ricordano ancora la linea ferroviaria, che fu smantellata nel 1935. Fino al 1° gennaio 2005 De Heurne faceva parte del comune di Dinxperlo. Il villaggio conta tra l'altro una chiesa protestante e una scuola.
