Beboerne i Witteveen og Benderse blev i august opdateret på stedet af skovriderne fra Naturmonumenter.
Anserdennerne står på tærsklen til et antal tilpasninger. Heideområdet skal åbnes op, da det de seneste år er blevet mere og mere tætbevokset.
Sidst i august tog Naturmonumenter sammen med de lokale ud i området for at forklare om de arbejeder, der begynder til efteråret. Skovriderne Ronald Popken og Hans Krol fortalte om vigtigheden af de tørre heideområder og hvordan dette område kan bevares for fremtiden.
