Rangsit-kanalen var det første vandingsprojekt i Thailand. Kong Chulalongkorn beordrede dets konstruktion i 1890 og udnævnte prins Sai Sanitvongse (morfar til prins Rangsit) som projektleder. Kanalen begynder ved den østlige bred af Chao Phraya-floden i Ban Mai i Mueang Pathum Thani-distriktet i Pathum Thani-provinsen. Den løber derefter østover forbi Thung Luang og løber ud i Nakhon Nayok-floden i Ongkharak-distriktet, Nakhon Nayok-provinsen.
Tidligere var området omkring Rangsit-kanalen fra Pathum Thani til Nakhon Nayok-provinsen det største område for tangeriner i Thailand med ikke færre end 150.000 rai (omtrent 59.288 acres), hvilket producerede 80% af landets udbytte. Rangsit-tangerinen var kendt, ligesom Bang Mot-tangerinen fra Bang Mot-kvarteret i Bangkoks Thonburi er i dag. Det dyrkede område er nu næsten helt tabt, selvom der er bestræbelser fra mange individer på at genoprette tangerinlunde til deres tidligere berømmelse. [Kilde: Wikipedia]
