Mittersill ist eine Stadt im Bundesland Salzburg. Sie ist mit 5575 Einwohnern der größte Ort im Oberpinzgau. Mittersill war bis 2004 Sitz und Teil des Gerichtsbezirks Mittersill und gehört seit 2005 zum Gerichtsbezirk Zell am See.Mittersill liegt in 790 m ü. A. am Schnittpunkt der Hauptverkehrswege durch das Salzachtal und der Nord-Süd-Verbindung über den Pass Thurn ins Leukental nach Tirol und Bayern, bzw. nach Süden durch das Felbertal und den Felbertauerntunnel nach Osttirol und weiter Richtung Adria. Dennoch hat es seinen Charme als Bergstädtchen bewahren können. Seine zentrale Lage zwischen dem Nationalpark Hohe Tauern und den Kitzbüheler Alpen macht Mittersill zu einem beliebten Urlaubsort.
