Wusstest du, dass man auf dem Veerleplein sehen kann, wenn in einem der Krankenhäuser in Gent ein Baby geboren wird? Vor ein paar Jahren kaufte die Stadtverwaltung von Gent das Kunstwerk 'Ai Nati Oggi' (was 'An diejenigen, die heute geboren werden' bedeutet) vom Künstler Alberto Garutti. Das Kunstwerk ist in die Lanternen des Veerleplein integriert. Jedes Mal, wenn ein Kind in einem Krankenhaus in Gent geboren wird, blinkt die Beleuchtung langsam. Auf einem großen Stein auf dem Platz wird erklärt, dass das Blinken keine Störung ist, sondern eine Ankündigung von Babynachrichten:
