Did you know that you can see when a baby is born in one of the hospitals in Ghent at Veerleplein? A few years ago, the city council of Ghent purchased the artwork 'Ai Nati Oggi' (which means 'To those born today') by the artist Alberto Garutti. The artwork is integrated into the lamps of Veerleplein. Every time a baby is born in a hospital in Ghent, the lights flicker slowly. A large stone in the square explains that the flickering is not a malfunction, but an announcement of baby news:
