Hier prallen die beiden mächtigsten Gruppen des 19. Jahrhunderts aufeinander. Als Reaktion auf die Allgegenwart der Kirche beschließen die Liberalen, einen neuen Park auf einem alten Friedhof anzulegen, direkt vor der Zavelkirche, wo jede der Säulen eines der Handwerke von Brüssel repräsentiert. Neben den Statuen der Gräber von Egmont und Hornes steht eine Reihe von Statuen, natürlich nicht von Heiligen oder Göttern, sondern von berühmten Humanisten und Freidenkern.
