Das Fort de Malonne ist eines von neun Forts, die im späten 19. Jahrhundert in Belgien als Teil der Befestigungen von Namur errichtet wurden. Es wurde zwischen 1888 und 1892 nach den Plänen von General Henri Alexis Brialmont gebaut. Im Gegensatz zu den französischen Forts, die zur gleichen Zeit von Raymond Adolphe Séré de Rivières gebaut wurden, wurde das Fort ausschließlich aus unbewehrtem Beton, einem neuen Material, und nicht aus Mauerwerk errichtet. 1914 wurde das Fort während der Schlacht von Namur heftig von deutscher Artillerie bombardiert. Malonne wurde in den 1930er Jahren aufgerüstet, um Teil der befestigten Stellung von Namur zu werden, um einen Angriff aus Deutschland zu verhindern oder zu verlangsamen. Es wurde 1940 während der Schlacht um Belgien aktiv und wurde von deutschen Truppen erobert. Das Fort ist jetzt Teil eines Naturschutzgebiets und ein Lebensraum für Fledermäuse.
