Das Rathaus von Herzele ist auch als Schepenhuis bekannt.
Das genaue Erbauungsdatum des heutigen Schepenhuis ist unbekannt, die erste offizielle Erwähnung stammt jedoch aus dem Jahr 1571 , wo es als „ Herberghe Sinte Martin staende on trobi ende marckt van herseele“ bezeichnet wird. Dies lässt darauf schließen, dass das Gebäude noch älter sein könnte.
Im 18. Jahrhundert , als die Funktion des „Schepens“ verschwand, wurde das Gebäude umfassend renoviert, unter anderem wurde ein neuer Turm errichtet.
In den letzten Jahren (2025) gab es Pläne, das Schepenhuis zu renovieren und einer neuen Nutzung zuzuführen.
