Menen ist eine belgische Stadt in der Provinz Westflandern, unmittelbar an der französischen Grenze gelegen. Die Stadt hat 33.540 Einwohner auf einer Fläche von 33,07 km². Neben der Kernstadt gehören auch die Ortsteile Lauwe und Rekkem zum Stadtgebiet.Menen wird erstmals im Jahr 1087 genannt. Im 14. und 15. Jahrhundert führte die Textilherstellung zu schnellem Wachstum. Im 16. Jahrhundert machte das Bier Menen berühmt; 1520 besaß die Stadt 104 Braumeister.
