Am 1. August 1886 öffnet das Badhaus Van Eyck seine Türen als das erste überdachte „Schwimmbecken“ Flanderns. Für das dicht besiedelte Arbeiterviertel stellt das einzigartige Badhaus einen enormen Vorteil dar. Die Textilfabrik Lousbergs etwas weiter sorgt für warmes Wasser. Es gibt auch Bäder für Einzelbenutzer; bis heute kann man hier ein solches Bad nehmen. 1932 erhält das Innere einen wunderschönen Art-Déco-Stil. Seit 1995 gilt das Badhaus als geschütztes Denkmal. Bei der Renovierung entscheidet man sich für den Erhalt und die Wiederherstellung der ursprünglichen Außenfassaden aus dem 19. Jahrhundert und des Interieurs aus den 1930er Jahren. Die Vorderfassade trägt noch die ursprünglichen Aufschriften Bains und Badhuis. An der Rückseite steht ein neues Eingangsgebäude. Durch die Bullaugen in der Halle des Schwimmbads kann man einen Blick ins Innere werfen.
