Oombergen ist ein Dorf in der belgischen Provinz Ostflandern und ein Teilgemeinde der Stadt Zottegem. Das Dorf liegt in den Flämischen Ardennen. Früher stand dort das Schloss von Oombergen. Der Name Oombergen stammt vom germanischen hunu berga, frei übersetzt der honigfarbene Berg. Die Herrschaft Oombergen gehörte zunächst dem Geschlecht von Oyenberghe. Um 1530 wurde die Herrschaft von dem Gentser Jan Damman gekauft. Nachkomme Kasper Damman wurde am 17. Januar 1645 von Philipp IV. von Spanien zum Burggrafen von Oombergen ernannt. Marc-Antoine de Preud'homme d'Hailly, der sich Burggraf von Nieuwpoort nannte, heiratete in zweiter Ehe Anne Damman, Burggrafin von Oombergen. Die Familie De Preud'homme d'Hailly de Nieuport blieb bis zur Französischen Zeit in Belgien und Sohn Albert) im Besitz von Oombergen.
