In Wambeek wirst du zahlreiche Verbindungen zu Pol De Mont finden. So sind die Straßen rund um die Kirche nach ihm benannt und es gibt auch einen Pol De Mont-Wanderweg. Pol De Mont oder Charles Polydore de Mont war ein flämischer Schriftsteller und Dichter, der in Wambeek geboren wurde. Zusammen mit Albrecht Rodenbach gründete er Het Pennoen. 1880 wurde seine mit dem Vijfjaarlijkse Staatsprijs für flämische Literatur ausgezeichnete Gedichtsammlung veröffentlicht. 1904 wurde er zum Kurator des Königlichen Museums für Schöne Künste in Antwerpen ernannt. Ein Jahr später war er einer der Gründer der Zeitschrift De Vlaamse Gids. 1919 trat er als Kurator zurück, nachdem er in der Presse des Aktivismus beschuldigt wurde. Er wurde Chefredakteur der flämisch gesinnten Zeitung De Schelde. Einige seiner Mitarbeiter dort waren Paul van Ostaijen und Alice Nahon.
