I Wambeek vil du finde mange forbindelser til Pol De Mont. Gaderne omkring kirken er opkaldt efter ham, og der er også en Pol De Mont vandresti. Pol De Mont, eller Charles Polydore de Mont, var en flamsk forfatter og digter, der blev født i Wambeek. Sammen med Albrecht Rodenbach grundlagde han Het Pennoen. I 1880 blev hans digtsamling, som blev tildelt den Femårige Statspris for Flamsk Litteratur, offentliggjort. I 1904 blev han udnævnt til konservator for Det Kongelige Museum for Skønne Kuner i Antwerpen. Et år senere var han en af stifterne af tidsskriftet De Vlaamse Gids. I 1919 forlod han sin stilling som konservator, efter at han var blevet anklaget for aktivisme i pressen. Han blev chefredaktør for den flamske avis De Schelde. Nogle af hans medarbejdere der var Paul van Ostaijen og Alice Nahon.
