Wusstest du, dass Hoogstraten und Turnhout zu Beginn des 17. Jahrhunderts schwer zu leiden hatten? Es war ein militärisches Frontgebiet zwischen den beiden Niederlanden. Mehrmals versuchte man, aus diesen Gebieten neutrales Terrain zu machen. Erst 1648, nach dem Frieden von Münster, hörten Hoogstraten und Turnhout auf, ein militärisches Grenzgebiet zu sein und wurden zu einer ruhigeren Grenzregion zwischen den beiden Niederlanden.
