Wist je dat Hoogstraten en Turnhout het zwaar te verduren kregen in het begin van de 17de eeuw. Het was een militair frontgebied tussen de twee Nederlanden. Een aantal maal probeerde men van die gebieden neutraal terrein te maken. Het was pas in 1648, na de Vrede van Munster, dat Hoogstraten en Turnhout geen militair frontiergebied meer waren en een rustiger grensgebied tussen de twee Nederlanden werd.
