Zu den vielen Höhepunkten des Museums gehört die Sammlung „Flemish Primitives“, Werke eines breiten Spektrums von Meister der Renaissance und des Barock sowie eine Auswahl von Gemälden aus den neoklassizistischen und realistischen Perioden des 18. und 19. Jahrhunderts, Meilensteine des belgischen Symbolismus und Modernismus, Meisterwerke des flämischen Expressionismus und viele Objekte aus der städtischen Sammlung nachkriegsmoderne Kunst.
