Kobbegem ist ein Dorf in der belgischen Provinz Flandern-Brabant und ein Stadtteil von Asse. Kobbegem war bis zur Gemeindearealreform am 1. Januar 1977 eine eigenständige Gemeinde. Unter dem Ancien Régime war Kobbegem eine unabhängige Herrschaft. Juristisch fiel es unter die Maierij von Merchtem, im Viertel von Brüssel des Herzogtums Brabant. Nach der französischen Invasion wurde das Dorf dem Kanton Merchtem des Departements Dyle zugeordnet. Kobbegem behielt seinen Status als eigenständige Gemeinde bis 1977, als es mit Asse fusionierte.
