Sie befinden sich am Rand des Naturerlebnisgebiets Spei. Im Jahr 1988 pflanzten Schulkinder aus Audenaerde hier einen Laubwald. In den folgenden Jahren übernahm der städtische Umweltservice auch die Pflege der benachbarten Flächen. Elemente wie Reihen von beschnittenen Bäumen, Wildhecken, niedrige Hecken, hohe Obstbäume und Amphibienteiche prägen nun die Landschaft. Das Gras wird nur zweimal im Jahr gemäht, um der Flora und Fauna eine Ausbreitung zu ermöglichen.
