Das Provinzialarchäologische Museum von Südostflanderen in Velzeke zeigt auf didaktische Weise das Leben in Südostflandern von der Vorgeschichte bis zur Merowingerzeit. In der gallorömischen Periode wurde reichlich Balegemer Sandstein für unter anderem Wasserbrunnen, das aufsteigende Mauerwerk von Wohnhäusern sowie die Säulen und Kapitelle des Tempels verwendet. Eine moderne Verwendung von Balegemer Sandstein sehen wir im römischen Garten in Form von Platten und Sitzbänken. Auch das Ausfahrtsschild am Eingang ist aus robustem Balegemer Sandstein.
