Le Musée Archéologique Provincial du Sud-Est du Brabant à Velzeke présente de manière didactique la vie dans le Sud-Est du Brabant, de la préhistoire jusqu'à la période mérovingienne. Pendant la période gallo-romaine, on a largement utilisé le grès de Balegem pour, entre autres, des puits, la maçonnerie des habitations et les colonnes et chapiteaux du temple. On voit un usage moderne du grès de Balegem dans le jardin romain, sous la forme de carreaux et de bancs. Le panneau suspendu à l'entrée est également en imposant grès de Balegem.
