Sie ist eine der größeren flämischen Universitäten mit 38.000 Studierenden und 7.900 Mitarbeitern. Der derzeitige Rektor ist Paul Van Cauwenberge; er wird am 1. Oktober von Anne De Paepe abgelöst.
