Die Höhle im Citadelpark wurde und wird von manchem Liebespaar genutzt. Dies wurde sogar im Buch "Das Frontparadies" von Heinrich Wandt aus dem Jahr 1922 festgehalten, das die Kriegsjahre in Gent beschreibt. Damals wurde Pfarrer Sturm, katholischer Berater der Etappeninspektion in Gent, hier ebenfalls ertappt. Pfarrer Sturm war bekannt als Ankläger des Verfalls des Sittlichkeitsgefühls. Dies hinderte ihn jedoch nicht daran, hier in der Höhle des Citadelparks in der heiligen Weihnachtsnacht des Jahres 1915 die Liebe mit einer lokalen Prostituierten zu treiben. Ein deutscher Landsturmmann, der die Benzinvorräte in der Höhle schützen sollte, erwischte jedoch das Paar.
