In den Bäumen kann man (besonders im Winter) gut den Vogellack oder Mistelknollen sehen. Diese Parasiten haben wir anscheinend immer als mysteriöse Pflanzen angesehen. Das kann man an der Vielzahl der mythologischen Namen ablesen, die wir dieser Pflanze gegeben haben: Teufelsgras, Teufelsnester, Hexennester, Weihnachtsbaum, Klebekraut, Mattenkraut, Mistel, Mistelzweig, Priemst, Raumsch, Schlangenzunge, Viscum, Vogellack,... Diese Pflanze ist bekannt als Hexenkraut. Ein Hexenkraut ist eine Pflanze, die laut Überlieferungen häufig von sogenannten Hexen und Kräuterfrauen wegen ihrer bestimmten Wirkung verwendet wurde.
