Dieser Nagelbaum oder Kiefer wurde 2015 zum Baum des Jahres gewählt. Der Voerense Nagelbaum - eine Kastanie, die voll von verrosteten Nägeln ist - kämpfte auch um den Titel 'Europäischer Baum des Jahres'. Diese Wahl wird jährlich von 'EPA', einer tschechischen Umweltorganisation, organisiert. Ein Team von lokalen Experten, eine 12-köpfige Jury, wählte schließlich einstimmig diesen Nagelbaum in 's Gravenvoeren für Belgien: eine zuvor anonyme Kastanie, wäre da nicht die Rinde, die voller Nägel ist.
