Die Sint-Catherinakerk in Diegem ist vermutlich die meistbesuchte Kirche in Flandern. Das Kreuz auf der Kirche wird vom Flughafen Brüssel finanziert. Und das haben die meisten von uns schon einmal beim Starten oder Landen in Zaventem gesehen. Mit diesem Kreuz wird seit Jahrzehnten der Luftverkehr in Zaventem gewarnt. Das Kreuz sorgt dafür, dass die Kirche von der Woluwelaan, der E40 und der Zugverbindung Brüssel-Leuven sichtbar ist. Es gibt noch etwas Bemerkenswertes mit dem Turm. Dieser päpstliche Turm überlebte nur mit Mühe den Zweiten Weltkrieg. Der deutsche Besatzung ließ den Turm Stein für Stein abtragen, um die Kriegsvorbereitungen der in Melsbroek startenden Flugzeuge nicht zu behindern. Erst 1951 war der Wiederaufbau, Stein für Stein, abgeschlossen.
