L'église Saint-Catherine de Diegem doit être l'église la plus visitée de Flandre. La croix sur l'église est financée par Brussels Airport. Et la plupart d'entre nous l'ont déjà vue en décollant ou en atterrissant à Zaventem. Cette croix avertit le trafic aérien de Zaventem depuis des décennies. La croix permet à l'église d'être visible depuis l'avenue Woluwé, l'E40 et la ligne de train Bruxelles-Leuven. Il y a encore quelque chose d'extraordinaire avec le clocher. Ce clocher papal a survécu de justesse à la Seconde Guerre mondiale. L'occupant allemand a fait démolir le clocher pierre par pierre pour ne pas gêner les avions de guerre décollant de Melsbroek. Ce n'est qu'en 1951 que la reconstruction, également pierre par pierre, a été achevée.
