La iglesia de Santa Catalina en Diegem debe ser la iglesia más vista de Flandes. La cruz en la iglesia es financiada por el Aeropuerto de Bruselas. Y la mayoría de nosotros ya la hemos visto alguna vez al despegar o aterrizar en Zaventem. Con esa cruz se ha advertido sobre el tráfico aéreo de Zaventem durante décadas. La cruz asegura que la iglesia sea visible desde la Woluwelaan, la E40 y la línea de tren Bruselas-Leuven. Hay algo más notable con la torre. Esta torre papal sobrevivió por poco a la Segunda Guerra Mundial. El ocupante alemán hizo desmantelar la torre piedra a piedra para no obstaculizar los aviones de guerra que despegaban en Melsbroek. Solo en 1951 se completó la reconstrucción, nuevamente piedra a piedra.
