Auf der anderen Seite der Rupel befindet sich das landesweite Grüngebiet 'Broek De Naeyer'. Dieses Gebiet von 66 ha war früher mehr eine Deponie für industriellen Abfall als ein Grüngebiet. Glücklicherweise hat die Provinz Antwerpen der Natur hier die Möglichkeit gegeben, sich zu erholen. Das Ergebnis ist ein wunderbares Mosaik aus verschiedenen Biotopen mit reicher Fauna und Flora. Viele Vögel, Libellen und Schmetterlinge finden hier ihren Platz, und auch der Biber kehrte nach jahrelanger Abwesenheit zurück. Neben dem Biber wurde auch der Otter, von dem man annahm, dass er in Flandern nicht mehr vorkommt, seit 2012 hier mehrmals beobachtet.
Von zwei Vogelbeobachtungshütten aus kannst du in aller Ruhe die lebendige Natur genießen. Dieses Gebiet ist bekannt für seine wissenschaftlichen Forschungen zu Vögeln.
