Versteckt im Grünen steht ein echtes Schloss in der Polder. Segelhersteller Eduard Kums ließ es 1887 als sein privates Wohnhaus bauen, fernab des städtischen Trubels. Mit Glaskuppeln, hölzernen Erkern, Zinnen und einem Turm war es ein auffälliges und spielerisches Gebäude. Seine künstlerische Herangehensweise war nicht verwunderlich: Kums war ein begeisterter Kunstsammler und besaß Werke unter anderem von Goya, Rubens und Rembrandt. Lange konnte er sein Paradies nicht genießen: Er starb 4 Jahre nach dem Bau. Später wurde das Hof von Kums zu einem Bauernhof und heute ist es im Besitz eines Bauunternehmens. Dennoch kann man sich leicht vorstellen, wie man in der Polder des 19. Jahrhunderts nicht an diesem 'Hof' vorbeikommen konnte.
