Der Stolz von Tielt ist ohne Zweifel der Hallenturm. Dieses imposante Gebäude mit Belfried ziert seit vielen Jahren unsere Stadt. Noch mehr, seit 1275 ist der Hallenturm das Symbol der Stadt. Das mittelalterliche wirtschaftliche und soziale Leben spielte sich rund um diese Lakenhalle und das inzwischen verschwundene Schepenhuys ab. Der Hallenturm hat verschiedene Umwandlungen erlebt. Seine heutige Form stammt aus den Jahren 1558-1560, mit Ausnahme der Wappen wichtiger Familien und Herrschaften, die während der Restaurierung 1890 angebracht wurden. Der birnenförmige Campanile enthält ein seltenes Du Méry-Glockenspiel. 1773 ermöglichten die Brügger Glockengießer Du Méry, genussvolle Melodien zu hören. Vielleicht hast du Glück und genießt gerade ein kleines Musikstück! Der Hallenturm wurde 1999 in die Liste des UNESCO-Weltkulturerbes aufgenommen.
