Im Jahr 1841 kamen einige Ursulinen nach Onze-Lieve-Vrouw-Waver, um eine Schule für Volkmädchen zu gründen. Bald begannen sie auch mit einem kostenpflichtigen Internat, das internationale Ausstrahlung erhielt. Die Architektur und die Einrichtung der Gebäude und des Parks zeugen von dieser glanzvollen Vergangenheit. Auch heute besuchen 1700 Schülerinnen die Schule.
Der Wintergarten im Jugendstil aus dem Jahr 1900 diente als elegante Empfangshalle für die Besucher der hunderten Mädchen, die dort lebten. Man staunt über das feenhafte Spiel von Licht und Farbe der Kuppel und das originale Interieur.
