Die Turnhouter Bleicherei-Industrie entstand im Weiler Heizijde im Jahr 1654 auf Initiative von Peter Van de Venne und Jan Theeus (siehe wirtschaftliches Réveil nach dem Frieden von Münster, 1648); 1664 im Besitz von Steven Joosten, wurde sie 1707 an die Familien Stadhouders-Joosten übertragen.
