Die U-Bahn-Station wurde am 5. Juli 1985 zusammen mit Houba-Brugmann und Heizel zur Verlängerung der U-Bahn-Linie 1A von Bockstael nach Heizel eröffnet. Seit der Überarbeitung des U-Bahn-Netzes im Jahr 2009 wird diese Station von der U-Bahn-Linie 6 bedient.
Stuyvenbergh befindet sich unter dem Kreuzung von der Houba de Strooperlaan, der Emile Bockstaellaan und der De Smet De Naeyerlaan im Nordwesten der Stadt. Die U-Bahn-Station ist nach dem Schloss Stuyvenberg benannt, das sich östlich der Station im Park von Laeken befindet. Die Stuyvenberghstraße liegt in einiger Entfernung nördlich der Station.
