La stazione della metropolitana sotterranea è stata inaugurata il 5 luglio 1985 insieme a Houba-Brugmann e Heizel per l'estensione della linea metropolitana 1A da Bockstael a Heizel. Dalla revisione della rete metropolitana nel 2009, questa stazione è servita dalla linea metropolitana 6.
Stuyvenbergh si trova sotto l'incrocio tra Houba de Strooperlaan, Emile Bockstaellaan e De Smet De Naeyerlaan, nel nord-ovest della città. La stazione della metropolitana sotterranea prende il nome dal Castello di Stuyvenberg, che si trova a est della stazione nel parco di Laken. La Stuyvenberghstraat si trova a una certa distanza a nord della stazione.
