Der Kanal Ypern-IJzer (auch Yperleekanaal genannt) verbindet Ypern mit Diksmuide und dem Meer über Nieuwpoort. Einst war der Kanal eine wichtige Verkehrsader, heute ist er vor allem für die Freizeit-Schifffahrt von Interesse. Während des Ersten Weltkriegs war der Kanal Teil des Yperner Bogens (Ypres Salient), dem Verteidigungsring gegen die deutschen Truppen.
