1865 von dem Landschaftsarchitekten Édouard Keilig, der auch den Bois de la Cambre entwarf, erbaut, erstreckt sich der Park über einen Bereich von etwa 30 ha im Soignes-Wald. Das goldene Zeitalter dieser Einrichtung erstreckt sich von 1880 bis 1940. Danach verschlechterten sich die Dinge: Die Pferde drehten 1995 eine letzte Runde auf der Rennbahn, und die Anlage wurde schrittweise aufgegeben, mit Ausnahme eines Golfplatzes, der seit 1988 im Zentrum der riesigen ovalen Rennbahn installiert ist.
