Created in 1875 based on the plans of the landscape architect Édouard Keilig, who also designed the Bois de la Cambre, it is located on a section of the Soignes covering about thirty hectares. The golden age of this establishment stretched from 1880 to 1940. Things deteriorated afterwards: the horses took their last lap in 1995 and the site was gradually abandoned, with the exception of a golf course established since 1988 in the center of the vast oval track.
