Es ist hier im Dorf Miavoye, wo der berühmte flämische Dichter Paul van Ostaijen seine letzten Lebenstage verbrachte, krank an Tuberkulose. Er lebte hier im Sanatorium 'Le Vallon'. Dort arbeitete er noch mit Edgar du Perron und Gaston Burssens an der Zeitschrift 'Avontuur'. Van Ostaijen starb einsam am 18. März 1928 an den Folgen seiner Krankheit. Zunächst wurde er in Miavoye-Anthée beigesetzt, wurde aber nach Drängen von Burssens auf dem Antwerpener Schoonselhof umgebettet. Am 8. November 1952 erhielt er dort seine endgültige Ruhestätte im Ehrenpark.
