Det er her i landsbyen Miavoye, at den berømte flamske digter Paul van Ostaijen tilbragte sine sidste dage, ramt af tuberkulose. Han boede her på sanatoriet 'Le Vallon'. Her arbejde han stadig sammen med Edgar du Perron og Gaston Burssens på tidsskriftet 'Avontuur'. Van Ostaijen døde ensom den 18. marts 1928 som følge af sin sygdom. Han blev oprindeligt begravet i Miavoye-Anthée, men blev efter pres fra Burssens genbegravet på den antwerpenske Schoonselhof. Den 8. november 1952 fik han sin endelige hvileplads i æresparken.
