È qui nel villaggio di Miavoye che il famoso poeta fiammingo Paul van Ostaijen trascorse i suoi ultimi giorni di vita, afflitto dalla tubercolosi. Soggiornò qui nel sanatorio 'Le Vallon'. Lavorò ancora insieme a Edgar du Perron e Gaston Burssens alla rivista 'Avontuur'. Van Ostaijen morì solo il 18 marzo 1928 a causa della sua malattia. Inizialmente fu sepolto a Miavoye-Anthée, ma dopo insistenza di Burssens fu riesumato nel Schoonselhof di Anversa. L'8 novembre 1952 ricevette la sua ultima dimora nel cimitero degli onori.
