Mitten in den drei Landebahnen des Brüsseler Flughafens werden von hier aus viele Fluglotsen alle Flugbewegungen von Landungen, Rollbahn bis zum Start geleitet.
Einige Meter südlich verlief früher die römische Straße von vermutlich Batavia (Leiden), über Hoogstraten und Elewijt, durch diese Felder in Richtung Waver, Namen nach Trier.
Später (14.-15. Jahrhundert) war dies ein Teil der burgundischen Nord-Süd-Verbindung von Mechelen nach Dijon und Zeeland.
