Die Lokerenmolen stand an der Stelle zwischen der Merodelei, der Spoorbaan und der Kadasterstraat. Da er normalerweise bei Pachtverträgen die meisten Einnahmen brachte, war er vielleicht die wichtigste Mühle von Turnhout. Bereits vor 1403 stand hier eine Standardmühle zum Mahlen von Getreide. 1544-1545 wurde die Mühle erneuert.
1780 wurde die Standardmühle abgerissen und an derselben Stelle durch eine steinerne Geschützturm-Mühle ersetzt.
1789 war sie Zeugin der Schlacht von Turnhout zwischen Patriotten und den Österreichern.
Bei der Bestattungszeremonie des Volksvertreters Pieter De Nef am 15. November 1844 folgte eine Menschenmenge vom Balkon diesem Ereignis. Dieser Balkon stürzte unter dem Gewicht ein und eine Anzahl von Menschen fand dabei den Tod.
1927 wurde die Mühle abgerissen.
