Diese Straße war früher Teil der längeren Marollenstraße (die der ganzen Nachbarschaft ihren Namen gab).
Als 1875 diese Straße durch den Bau des neuen Justizpalastes in zwei Teile geteilt wurde, entstand eine neue Straße. Diese erhielt den Namen der spanischen Madonna von Montserrat (ebru, o.J.). Früher stand in dieser Straße auch eine Kapelle zu Ehren der O.L.V. von Montserrat. Leider ist diese im Laufe des 20. Jahrhunderts verschwunden.
Auf der Route folgt man der Montserratstraße von der Rückseite des Justizpalastes in Richtung des Kleinen Rings (R20).
