"Spletterenbrug" über die Moervaart in Daknam. Ein Name wie ein Glockenklang, aber auch ein idyllischer Ort inmitten der Natur. Mit ein wenig Vorstellungskraft sieht und hört man in Gedanken den letzten Dampfzug, beladen mit Zuckerrüben, über die Gleise donnern. Seit 1867 fuhren auf der Strecke Aalst-Lokeren-Zelzate hier die Dampfzüge vorbei und das über 100 Jahre. Die Brücke wurde zweimal von sich zurückziehenden Armeen sprengt. 1918 von den Deutschen und 1940 von der belgischen Armee. Die nach 1940 von den Besatzern wiederhergestellte Brücke ist bis heute, bis auf einige Anstriche, unverändert geblieben. Der Name Spletteren verweist auf die alte Bezeichnung der umgebenden Felder.
