Der Obelisk von Domaine Solvay, 36 m hoch (inklusive der Sonne), wurde im Auftrag von Herrn Alfred Vandercam, einem Unternehmer in Ohain, nach der Idee von Herrn Ernest-John Solvay erbaut. Der Bau begann 1968 und dauerte ein Jahr. Der Obelisk wurde Anfang 1969 fertiggestellt.
Die Sonne wurde von Herrn Solvay aus verschiedenen Kalibern aus Sperrholz ausgewählt. Sie wurde von Monsieur Bonaventure, einem künstlerischen Schmied in Lasne-Chapelle Saint-Lambert, geschmiedet. Sie hat einen Durchmesser von 4,50 m, besteht aus 16 Flammen und erhielt eine spezielle Härtung, die sie vor schlechtem Wetter schützt. Diese Sonne und der Obelisk sind auf die Westseite des Schlosses ausgerichtet und reflektieren so das Licht der aufgehenden Sonne für die Bewohner der Westfassade des Schlosses.
