Terhills bildet das Haupttor zum Nationalpark Hoge Kempen. Während der Wanderungen auf und um die ehemaligen Halden der Zeche genießt man wunderschöne Ausblicke.
Hier drehte vor mehr als einem Vierteljahrhundert die Kohlenmine von Eisden noch auf Hochtouren. Heute sieht die Landschaft ganz anders aus und man kann hier eine überraschende Landschaft aus ‚Bergen und Seen‘ mit spektakulären Panoramaausblicken genießen. Monumental am Eingang von Terhills steht der renovierte Förderturm. Man kann die Treppen des Förderturms bis in eine Höhe von 24 m hinaufsteigen, um die nähere Umgebung aus einem anderen Blickwinkel zu betrachten.
