Sie sind auch als Vierzehn Nothelfer bekannt. Sie werden Helfer genannt , weil sie besonders bei allen Arten von Krankheiten und Störungen helfen würden.
Saint-Gilles oder Egidius war Einsiedler und Abt und wird gegen Plagen angerufen.
