Die neogotische Sint-Gertrudiskirche wurde 1870 an dieser Stelle erbaut, nachdem die Provinzstraße durchgezogen wurde, wodurch der alte Dorfkern in eine abgelegene Ecke der Gemeinde verlegt wurde. An der Wand neben dem Pfarrhaus befindet sich ein Wandgemälde zu Ehren der Kaiserin Theophanu, umgeben von der Fauna und Flora der Bergenmeersen, der Hagia Sophia der Stadt ihrer Jugend Konstantinopel (jetzt: Istanbul) und der St. Pantaleonkirche in Köln, wo sie begraben ist.
